Hi! My name is Jan Henneco and I’m a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics at Newcastle University. I’m working on the interface between binary physics and asteroseismology to explore how these fields can interact and benefit each other.
During my time as a PhD student in theoretical astrophysics at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies in Heidelberg (Germany), I studied the evolution of binary star systems, the onset of contact phases in such systems, and the occurence of stellar mergers. Then I moved over to the interface between binary star physics and asteroseismology, the study of stellar pulsations, to determine if and how the stars left behind by stellar mergers, stellar merger products, pulsate differently from ‘regular’ single stars. Check out my Research page and Publication list if you want to know more about my past and current research.
